Grants Management System Officer – Tech for Conservation in Nepal

  • Organization: IUCN Nepal
  • Job Title: Grants Management System Officer
  • Required No: 1
  • Job Type: Full-time, Fixed-term (24 months)
  • Start Date: 1 September 2025
  • Work Percentage: 100%

Your Role:

As our Grants Management System Officer in Kathmandu, you’ll be the backbone of conservation funding – the unsung hero ensuring resources flow to where they’re needed most. Imagine waking up knowing your tech skills help protect snow leopards in the high mountains or restore Nepal’s lush forests. That’s the power of this role.

What You’ll Actually Do

  •  Be the Go-To Tech Guru: Manage our global grants platform – troubleshooting, optimizing, and ensuring 32+ conservation projects get funded smoothly.
  •  Bridge Worlds: Translate between conservationists in the field and tech teams in headquarters (no PhD in "tech-speak" required!).
  •  Lead Problem-Solving: When a grant application in Brazil hits a snag at midnight? You’re the calm, quick-thinking solution-finder.
  •  Power Global Projects: Help teams from Nepal to Nicaragua navigate our system – your work touches rainforests, coral reefs, and endangered species.
  •  Turn Data into Action: Spot trends in grant management that could revolutionize how IUCN funds conservation worldwide.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

  • Learns Fast: Has a Bachelor’s in IT/Computer Science OR built equivalent skills through passion projects.
  • Thrives in Chaos: 3+ years managing service desks or ticketing systems (you know how to prioritize when everything’s urgent).
  • Speaks Tech Fluently: Comfortable with SQL databases, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and JSON – bonus points if you’ve geeked out over Agile/Scrum.
  • Connects People: Communicates in English like a pro (French/Spanish? We’ll high-five you!).
  • Cares Deeply: You get excited about supporting conservation – even if your role is behind a screen.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • See Your Impact: Know that grant you streamlined helped a community in the Terai protect rhinos.
  • Grow With Us: We invest in your skills – workshops, mentorships, and global tech networks.
  • Work Flexibly: Need to adjust hours for family or hike on weekends? We trust you.
  • Join a Family: Our Kathmandu team drinks masala chai together and celebrates every conservation win.
