About Us:

People in Need (PIN) Nepal started in response to the April 25th, 2015 earthquake, the most devastating in 80 years, with a magnitude of 7.8. It left nearly 9,000 dead and 22,000 injured. PIN provided emergency aid, helped displaced people prepare for winter, assisted in infrastructure rehabilitation, and addressed protection needs in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk.

Responsibilities of Girls and Inclusive Education Network (GIEN) Technical Officer:

  • All PIN staff agree to:

  •  Key Summary of Functions  
    • Plan and Implement PIN Nepal's GIEN action plans and priorities ensure that important deliverables are accomplished.
    • As the focal point for GIEN coordination at the local, district, and provincial levels, convene the appropriate meetings to ensure successful mobilization.
    • Ensure that GIEN initiatives are properly implemented across all levels of government.
    • Map GIEN capacity at all levels, collaborate with the GIEN Lead to establish capacity development strategies, and engage with partners on institutionalization, operationalization, and sustainability.
    • Assist partners in scaling up GIEN creation and mobilization by providing technical assistance for capacity enhancement.
    • Assess and support GIEN's functional state at the school, municipal, and provincial levels, and put strategic plans into action to ensure successful operationalization.
    • Support, organize, and activate GIEN at the school/community, municipal, and provincial levels.
  •  Project Implementation  
    • Assist Gien. Lead the development and implementation of GIEN project interventions.
    • Help develop and manage GIEN activities with partners, ensuring that they are in line with proposal goals and donor criteria.
    • Assist with capacity building and community engagement initiatives including GIEN partners, communities, and stakeholders.
    • Support the creation of provincial reports on activities and outcomes (monthly, quarterly, yearly, and as needed).
    • Ensure the safety of children, vulnerable populations, and those living in unstable and conflict-affected states.
    • Maintain effective communication and coordination among PIN, partners, government stakeholders, and beneficiaries, and participate in forums at the provincial, municipal, and school levels.
    • Provide field-level information for project communication materials and increase GIEN exposure and branding.
    • Support knowledge management and sharing by creating and deploying GIEN monitoring and evaluation tools, as well as exchanging M&E reports at frequent meetings.
    • Oversee and monitor GIEN planning and execution at the municipal and school levels.
    • Plan joint monitoring visits with the government and development partners to ensure GIEN implementation and feedback.
  • Representation and Networking  
    • Ensure that PIN is adequately represented and visible to stakeholders, particularly at the provincial and district levels.
    • Help organize provincial, district, and local orientations for the ACCESS and Hamro Pratigya projects.
    • Communicate regularly with the GIEN Lead, project team, and appropriate units (MEAL, safeguarding, GEDSI), and collaborate closely with the Communication team to ensure project visibility.
    • To guarantee the safety of children and people at risk, submit timely reports to the Accountability and Safeguarding Lead or GEDSI and Protection Lead.
  •  Mainstreaming and Quality Management  
    • Ensure that PIN is effectively represented and visible among stakeholders, particularly at the province and district levels.
    • Organize provincial, district, and local orientations for the ACCESS and Hamro Pratigya projects.
    • Regularly communicate with the GIEN Lead, project team, and relevant units (MEAL, safeguarding, GEDSI), and collaborate closely with the Communication team to ensure project visibility.
    • To guarantee the safety of children and adults at risk, timely reports should be made to the Accountability and Safeguarding Lead or the GEDSI and Protection Lead.
  •  Program Operations Management 
    • Act as GIEN's Province Lead, ensuring that partners fulfill deadlines and deliverables with the M&E Unit.
    • Encourage safeguarding and accountability. Lead the monitoring of adherence to PIN regulations, particularly safeguarding requirements, and respond to complaints swiftly.
  • Safeguarding Responsibility  
    • Report any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding and Accountability Lead immediately.
    • Assist with safeguarding issues, including investigations and follow-ups.
    • Carry out community initiatives to promote awareness of PIN's safeguarding principles.
    • Prepare and submit frequent safeguarding activity reports and updates to the Safeguarding and Accountability Lead.
    • Collaborate with program teams to include safety measures into project activities.

Required Qualification & Experience for Girls and Inclusive Education Network (GIEN) Technical Officer:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a similar discipline. 
  • At least two years of experience working especially on education programs, with a focus on girls and inclusive education, gender programming, and CBO mobilisation. 
  • Experience in non-formal education, gender transformational approaches, protection mainstreaming, child rights advocacy and policy creation, and school governance will be beneficial. 
  • Experience working with disadvantaged and vulnerable communities is advantageous. 
  • Experience working with government agencies, education networks, various stakeholders, or similar types of networks at the school, local, and provincial levels.

Required Skills & Knowledge for Girls and Inclusive Education Network (GIEN) Technical Officer:

  • Knowledge and involvement in SESP and REAL plans, education working groups and clusters, including the government GIEN strategic plan. 
  • Good understanding and expertise with governance and local-level planning processes. 
  • Good understanding of the Girls Inclusive Education Network (GIEN), its approach and mainstreaming with GEDSI policy, education policy, and the creation and execution of education plans. 
  • Demonstrates a strong dedication to working in distant areas in Lumbini Province and other districts/regions. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the GIEN network and inclusive education interventions. 
  • The ability to analyze and swiftly comprehend the principles of a demand or situation, as well as discover new solutions to cross-cutting challenges. 
  • Sound understanding of protection mechanisms, as well as the capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.

Salary & Benefit for Girls and Inclusive Education Network (GIEN) Technical Officer:

  • Salaries are based on the People In Need Salary Scale. Candidates will be notified about remuneration at the start of the recruiting process. 
  • Health insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient treatment, with a maximum benefit limit of NPR 300,000.00 per year (including dependents). 
  • Accident insurance for any injuries during work time: NPR 3,000,000 per year (for staff only). 
  • Compensation leave for working overtime when asked by the Line Manager. 
  • Employees are entitled to maternity, paternity, and mourning leave as per labor law, as well as a monthly communication or internet allowance that can be reimbursed.

  • Work hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break
