As the Head of Department (English), you will play a pivotal role in leading our English department towards excellence. Your responsibilities include overseeing the development of the subject area, fostering a collaborative teaching environment, monitoring student progress, and managing departmental resources efficiently. Responsibilities of Head of English Department:
- Leadership, Management, and Development of the Subject Area:
- Direct and supervise the work of English department colleagues, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Set challenging targets for the department and contribute positively to curriculum development.
- Lead professional development initiatives for English department staff, serving as a role model and providing support as needed.
- Development and Enhancement of Teaching and Learning:
- Create a conducive learning environment that fosters enthusiasm and confidence among staff and students.
- Design, implement, and review curricula and schemes of work, ensuring alignment with school objectives.
- Ensure all students achieve high standards in English language proficiency through appropriate teaching methods and resource utilization.
- Leadership and Management of the Department as a Team:
- Conduct regular meetings with English department staff, facilitating communication and collaboration.
- Foster a culture of collective responsibility and consistent expectations within the department.
- Provide mentorship, motivation, and support to colleagues, delegating responsibilities as appropriate.
Required Qualification & Experience for Head of English Department:
- Education: Master's degree in a relevant subject.
- Experience: 5 years of teaching experience, with 2 years in a leadership position.
Required Skills for Head of English Department:
- Language: Fluent in English; Proficiency in Nepali is advantageous.
- Skills: Team player, good presentation skills, initiator, computer proficiency, and a passion for working with children and vulnerable populations.
