We conduct evidence-based research and implement programs aimed at enhancing the nutritional status of vulnerable populations.

Project Overview:

We are conducting a research study titled: "Assessing prevalence, determinants, and care and management practices of low-birth-weight babies: A multicentric, observational study in Nepal." This project, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population and with ethical approval from the Nepal Health Research Council, aims to inform interventions to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

Research Investigators Job Description:

Are you passionate about contributing to vital research that impacts maternal and child health in Nepal? Helen Keller Intl. seeks dedicated female candidates to join our team as Research Investigators. In this role, you will be stationed in the Labor Room of selected hospitals across 11 districts, conducting critical data collection on birth weight measurement and delivery care practices. Your observations and interviews will directly contribute to our research study aimed at understanding and improving the care and management practices of low-birth-weight babies in Nepal.

Duty Location:

Field Based in 18 Municipalities across 11 districts in Nepal, including:

  1. Dailekha (Dailekha District hospital, Dullu Hospital – 2 numbers)
  2. Jajarkot (Jajarkot District Hospital – 1 number)
  3. Salyan (Salayan District Hospital) – 1 number)
  4. Kapilvastu (Shivapur Health Post, Pakadi Health Post, Krishnanager Health Post – 3 numbers)
  5. Rupandehi (Provincial Hospital Lumbini, Parroha Health Post, Lumbini PHC - 3 numbers)
  6. Achham (Bayalpata Hospital, Chaurpati PHC – 2 numbers)
  7. Dadeldhura (Dadeldhura Hospital – 1 number)
  8. Bhajang (Khiratadi Health Post – 1 number)
  9. Bajura (Kolte PHC – 1 number)
  10. Darchula (Gokuleswor Hospital, 1 number)
  11. Kailali (Seti Provincial Hospital, Baliya Hospital – 2 numbers)

Responsibilities of Research Investigators:

  • Collecting data in the Labor Room based on observation checklists.
  • Interviewing mothers and health facility staff to gather essential information.
  • Ensuring compliance with research protocols and ethical standards.
  • Collaborating effectively with selected hospitals and stakeholders.

Required Qualification &  Experience for Research Investigators:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing, nutrition, or social sciences with at least one year of research or field data collection experience.
  • OR Intermediate/Auxiliary Nurse Midwife/Auxiliary Health Worker with a minimum of three years' experience in community-level health/nutrition activities.

Required Skills for Research Investigators:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Previous experience in public health research or similar data collection activities.
  • Fluency in Nepali; basic/intermediate English skills preferred.
  • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.
