MEAL Coordinator Job Description:

The "Hamro Pratigya – Our Promise: Empowering Voices, Ending Gender-Based Violence" project is part of the Security and Justice Programme. Aligned with the FCDO's International Strategy on Women and Girls (2023-2030) and the UK Gender Equality Act 2014, this multi-year project aims to reduce the acceptance of gender-based violence (GBV) and promote inclusive development. It focuses on Bara, Sarlahi, and Dhanusha districts in Madhesh Province and is implemented by DDRC Parsa, benefiting community members, CBOs, and CSOs.

Key Roles & Responsibilities MEAL Coordinator:

  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Implement and manage all M&E activities, including design, planning, coordination, data collection, cleaning, and analysis.
    • Streamline and implement MEAL activities for GBV prevention and social norm programming.
    • Monitor and evaluate project progress and ensure quality implementation.
    • Lead communication between stakeholders, partners, and the project through reporting and documentation.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring high-quality standards.
    • Mainstream gender equality and social inclusion into planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
    • Adhere to DDRC & PIN-Nepal's policies, including Safeguarding Standards and Procedures, Child Protection, and Do No Harm policies.
  • Field Engagement:
    • Initiate project implementation through meetings with stakeholders.
    • Update M&E plans as necessary and provide timely analysis.
    • Facilitate field monitoring visits and conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments.
    • Collect and analyze periodic data and information against baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
    • Prepare issue logs and risk logs for the project.
  • Programmatic Support:
    • Support the overall project management, implementation, and coordination.
    • Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of project results.
    • Provide ongoing analysis and recommendations to improve project quality and efficacy.
    • Represent the project in meetings, workshops, and discussions with partners and stakeholders.
    • Strengthen knowledge sharing and learning processes by regularly disseminating program results, lessons learned, and good practices.
  • Data Collection and Information Management:
    • Lead data collection from the field in coordination with the program team.
    • Implement data verification systems to ensure accurate, timely, and relevant information.
    • Regularly update the DDRC Office on project achievements and progress.
  • GEDSI Mainstreaming:
    • Highlight GEDSI-related results in the M&E plan and reflect them in reporting.
    • Ensure GEDSI considerations in workstations, communication, and personal behavior.
    • Plan and implement project activities in a gender-sensitive and inclusive manner.
  • Representation and Networking:
    • Act as the MEAL focal person for communication and coordination with stakeholders at the provincial level.
    • Represent DDRC Nepal and "Hamro Pratigya" professionally with external stakeholders.
    • Engage in advocacy and policy dialogues at federal, provincial, district, and local levels.
      Qualifications

Required Qualification & Experience for MEAL Coordinator:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in social science or development-related fields, with a good understanding of MEAL systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, and complaint response mechanisms, preferably with large development projects in I/NGO settings and/or Government.

Required Skills & Knowledge for MEAL Coordinator:

  • Experience with disadvantaged and vulnerable groups is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, KOBO, SPSS, and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
  • Proven ability to produce analytical reports with quantitative data analysis.
  • Technical knowledge in monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to develop data analysis approaches and databases.
  • Good understanding of gender issues and rights-based approaches.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive fieldwork in remote communities.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Strong critical thinking and self-initiative.
  • Nepali typing skills and translation abilities are a plus.
