The International Labor Organization (ILO) is seeking a Project Technical Officer/Coordinator to lead the management and implementation of the "Building Resilience for the Future of Work and the Post COVID-19: Promoting rights and social inclusion through organization and formalization (PRS) "project Phase II in Nepal, India, and Pakistan. This initiative, funded by the Government of Japan, aims to provide necessary support and protection for informal workers and economic units, with a focus on promoting gender equality and formalization.

Project Technical Officer/Coordinator Job Description:

We are seeking a Project Technical Officer/Coordinator to lead the overall project management and implementation of the PRS Phase II project in Nepal, India, and Pakistan. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the ILO's initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of social partners to address decent work deficits and gender inequalities in the informal economy and promoting formalization and gender-responsive COVID-19 recovery.

Duties of Project Technical Officer/Coordinator:

  1. Oversee day-to-day implementation and monitoring of project activities.
  2. Provide technical advice and support in the design, execution, and evaluation of gender-responsive project initiatives.
  3. Develop training materials and conduct seminars and workshops to promote the Decent Work Agenda.
  4. Foster relationships with government, employer, worker, and non-governmental organization representatives.
  5. Maintain clear communication with the Chief Technical Advisor and other stakeholders to ensure donor requirements are met.
  6. Conduct research and integrate technical inputs for reports and publications.
  7. Organize knowledge-sharing meetings with stakeholders and constituents at regional and national levels.
  8. Ensure gender-specific considerations are integrated into all project activities and strategies.
  9. Coordinate with national project coordinators and consultants to maintain regional and national linkages.
  10. Prepare technical and financial reports on project progress.
  11. Represent the project in relevant meetings and collaborate with other organizations.
  12. Promote the application of international labor standards throughout the project implementation.

Required Qualifications & Experience for Project Technical Officer/Coordinator:

  1. Education: Advanced university degree in international relations, development studies, economics, or relevant fields.
  2. Experience: Minimum five years of relevant professional experience, including three years at the international level, with a strong background in project management and gender equality initiatives. Familiarity with ILO policies and procedures preferred.
  3. Languages: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Competencies:

  • Ability to provide technical guidance and coordinate project activities.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to formulate new concepts.
  • Proficiency in drafting reports and providing technical support.
  • Capacity to work in a multicultural environment and promote gender-sensitive behavior.
