About Us

Women's Rehabilitation Center (WOREC), is a national NGO dedicated to advancing women's human rights and empowerment via social justice projects. Our primary target areas include campaigns against violence against women and the development of women's economic, social, and cultural rights in several districts around Nepal. The central office is in Lalitpur, and operations are active in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, and Saptari districts.

Program Officer Job Description:

The Program Officer, reporting directly to the Program Manager, District Coordinator, and Program Coordinator, will oversee the district-level execution of the Addressing Trafficking in Persons, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Human Rights Defenders Program. This position entails tracking progress to guarantee program accountability and efficiency. The Program Officer will work closely with managers, coordinators, and WOREC's networks to achieve program objectives. District-level program implementation, event coordination, periodic reporting, workshop organization, field staff supervision, data collection, youth champion selection, regular field monitoring, and coordination with the finance officer, district team, project team, central office, and community stakeholders are among the primary responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities of Program Officer:

  • Prepare and implement an annual project plan, providing proper documentation and timely reporting.
  • Coordinate and communicate with district and central teams to fulfill the organization's goals and vision.
  • Collect, create, and document evidence (data, photographs, reports) at the district level.
  • Assist the Researcher in designing and carrying out research on VAW, GBV, TIP, and human rights protection.
  • Monitor program progress, guarantee quality, and make any required changes.
  • Conduct GBV and TIP trainings, and work with CSOs on community advocacy.
  • Help to establish the yearly plan and organize monthly and quarterly events with human rights activists.
  • Submit monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
  • Review and align project activities with the budget, with Finance Unit assistance.
  • Lead capacity-building operations in the district.
  • Organize training courses, workshops, public hearings, and handle local logistics.
  • Approach activities via a feminist and women's human rights lens.
  • Identify and resolve significant issues to ensure continual progress.
  • Improve community partnerships via conversation and communication.
  • Organize and evaluate incidents of violence against women, and create case studies.
  • Supervise and guide field workers in accordance with project goals.
  • Perform responsibilities as assigned by the company or project.

Required Qualifications & Experience for Program Officer:

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Rural Development, or a comparable area, as well as strong training coordination skills, an awareness of the development sector, a rights-based approach, and three years of experience working in the program.

Required Skills & Knowledge for Program Officer:

  • The candidate should be familiar with local and regional human rights contexts, including trafficking, women's and youth rights, and a rights-based approach. 
  • The applicant must be able to write and communicate well in both Nepali and English languages.
