Climate, Resilience and Agriculture Officer Job Description:

As a Climate, Resilience, and Agriculture Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting various project activities and interventions, particularly in designing comprehensive implementation plans for climate resilience and agriculture projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting small farmers in adopting farming methods tailored to their specific areas and responsive to climate changes. Additionally, you will promote nature-based solutions to enhance farm productivity, conduct climate risk assessments, facilitate training sessions, and collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders to ensure project alignment with objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities of Climate, Resilience and Agriculture Officer:

  1. Assist in designing detailed implementation plans for climate resilience and agriculture projects, tailored to local contexts and responsive to climate changes.
  2. Provide support and guidance to smallholder farmers in adopting optimal farming methods and nature-based solutions to enhance farm productivity.
  3. Conduct climate risk assessments and develop strategies to address challenges effectively.
  4. Organize and facilitate training sessions, seminars, and panel discussions to build capacity among farmers and local stakeholders.
  5. Collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders to ensure project alignment with objectives and promote knowledge-sharing.
  6. Prepare and update program reports and technical documents regularly, documenting project progress and outcomes.
  7. Engage with communities and farmers to raise awareness about climate change impacts and promote resilience-building initiatives.
  8. Organize education and outreach activities, including workshops and field days, to promote climate-smart agricultural practices and sustainability.
  9. Advocate for the inclusion of women, youth, and marginalized communities in project activities, emphasizing their role in climate resilience.
  10. Contribute to organizational efforts to become carbon-neutral, implementing initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability practices.
  11. Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing on climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts with stakeholders at national and international levels.
  12. Share updates and success stories from projects through presentations and networking events, highlighting the impact of our work in addressing climate challenges.

Required Qualification & Experience for Climate, Resilience, and Agriculture Officer:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in agriculture, climate change adaptation studies, environmental science, or a relevant field; A master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • 2-3 years of experience at the Supervisor/Assistant level, or a year of experience with a master's degree.

Required Skills for Climate, Resilience, and Agriculture Officer:

  • Extensive experience in conducting training and capacity-building activities for smallholder farmers and local stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Nepali.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites for training and field-level activities as required.
