Project Manager Job Description:

Hamro Pratigya aims to empower voices and end gender-based violence in alignment with the FCDO's International Strategy on Women and Girls (2023-2030). This multi-year project, funded by FCDO and led by People in Need, focuses on changing social norms to reduce acceptance of GBV, particularly in Bara, Sarlahi, and Dhanusha districts of Madhesh Province.

About the Project:

Hamro Pratigya – Our Promise: Empowering Voices, Ending Gender-Based Violence is under the Security and Justice Programme. Aligned with the UK Gender Equality Act 2014 and the British Embassy Kathmandu's Country Plan, the project aims to reduce gender-based violence by shifting social norms and empowering marginalized communities in Bara, Sarlahi & Dhanusha districts. Funded by FCDO and led by People in Need, the project supports Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to enhance community resilience and service delivery.

Responsibilities of Project Manager:

  • Key Summary of Functions:
    • Manage project implementation, budget, and outputs under Hamro Pratigya project, ensuring gender and inclusion considerations, safeguarding, and project visibility.
    • Collaborate with PIN's team for project planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting activities, including case studies and success stories.
    • Supervise project staff, assess capacity-building needs, and support implementation plans.
    • Provide technical support for community engagement activities linked to project objectives.
    • Develop detailed work plans and budgets aligned with project goals and donor policies.
    • Ensure cross-cutting issues such as safeguarding, gender, and environmental considerations are mainstreamed across project activities.
    • Coordinate with M&E departments for regular program evaluation and reporting.
  • Representation and Networking:
    • Act as the project's focal point for communication and coordination with stakeholders, representing DDRC professionally in district-level forums.
    • Engage in advocacy and policy dialogues at federal, provincial, and local levels to influence policies benefiting project beneficiaries.
  • Mainstreaming and Quality Management:
    • Conduct regular field visits, analyze program effectiveness, and provide feedback for improvement.
    • Support PIN in conducting assessments and baseline studies.
    • Ensure GEDSI and protection considerations are integrated throughout the project cycle.
    • Promote gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in project planning and implementation.
  • Management & Fundraising:
    • Ensure program alignment with People in Need's policies and guidelines.
    • Support fundraising efforts for gender programming and strengthening of Civil Society Organizations.
    • Align project design with SDGs and national development strategies.

Required Qualification & Experience for Project Manager:

  • Master's degree in gender studies, social sciences, rural development, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing GBV prevention and response programs with I/NGOs.

Required Skills & Knowledge for Project Manager:

  • Strong understanding of gender transformative programming and social norms.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to network effectively.
  • Proficiency in local languages ​​(Bhojpuri, Maithili) and English.
