Project Informations:

Following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Jajarkot District on November 3, 2023, IOM has been actively involved in recovery efforts. The Joint Recovery Action Plan: Western Nepal Earthquake was launched in February 2024 to support livelihoods, enable long-term recovery and reconstruction, and build resilience to natural shocks in 2024. IOM is leading shelter recovery interventions from May 2024 to January 2025.

Procurement Logistics Assistant Job Description:

The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Resources Management Officer and direct supervision of National Procurement Logistics and Government Liaison Officer. The role involves providing logistic support for the implementation and monitoring of procurement and logistics activities required by the project

Responsibilities of Procurement Logistics Assistant:

  • Purchasing required office equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Following proper IOM administrative procedures for purchasing, bidding, and stockkeeping.
  • Ensuring all project-related purchases are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager and coordinating with the Finance Unit.
  • Managing all incoming and outgoing consignments of goods.
  • Coordinating interpreter and translation services as requested by different program activities.
  • Assisting in identifying venues for training, workshops, and conferences.
  • Handling requests for printing materials such as books, brochures, and visibility items.
  • Supporting inventory maintenance, including scanning QR codes on assets and handling asset disposal processes.
  • Managing daily fuel logbook and handling procurement of fuel as required.
  • Procuring medical, lab supplies, IT-related goods, and services.
  • Handling petty cash and settling it monthly.
  • Undertaking other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience for Procurement Logistics Assistant:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, accounting, or a related field with 2 years of experience.
    • Or secondary education with 4 years of experience in the above field.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in handling procurement and logistics.
    • Knowledge of UN/IOM procurement practices and procedures is advantageous.

Required Skills for Procurement Logistics Assistant:

  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali (oral and written) is required.
