Since our establishment in 2005, we have been at the forefront of promoting psychosocial well-being, especially among conflict-affected and vulnerable communities.

Project Overview:

Currently, we are undertaking a 3-year research project funded by the Wellcome Trust UK. The project aims to develop and pilot-test a community-based intervention to promote help-seeking for depression care.

Responsibilities of Psychosocial Counselor:

As a Psychosocial Counselor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and providing psychosocial interventions to community members.
  • Facilitating psychosocial group interventions and offering focused support to individuals in need.
  • Organizing community-based orientation and sensitization programs on psychosocial issues.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with the Municipality.
  • Following up with trained FCHVs, teachers, and other health workers for case referrals.
  • Maintaining accurate case documentation and participating in project meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Making frequent field visits for case identification and providing essential psychosocial support.
  • Advocating for the promotion of psychosocial support activities with local governments and stakeholders.
  • Following directives from the project coordinator for strategic project benefits.

Required Qualifications & Experience for Psychosocial Counselor:

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline along with six-month psychosocial counseling training/Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Counseling Psychology. A master's degree in Psychology is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a psychosocial counselor.

Required Skills & Competency for Psychosocial Counselor:

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel for report preparation.
  • Fluency in local languages and English preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate two-wheeler vehicles.
