Field Program Associate Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Research and Field Program Officer, the Research and Field Program Associate will support planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the assigned mountain programs. S/he will support the Mountain Programs in identifying priorities for conservation aligned to WWF's vision and approach in coordination with stakeholders on ground, provide necessary administrative and programmatic back-up for implementation, identify roadblocks to expenditure and sustainability of interventions, and support reporting of activities. The position is largely field based (around 80%) with occasional visits to the main office in Kathmandu.

Responsibilities of Field Program Associate:

1.Planning:

  • Identify conservation priorities aligned with WWF's vision and approach.
  • Support stakeholders in identifying conservation priorities and opportunities for sustainable interventions.
  • Systematize documentation of conservation priorities and explore alignment with other themes for fundraising.

2.Project Administration and Implementation:

  • Assist in preparing grants and sub-grants for partners.
  • Ensure partners comply with contracts and governance measures.
  • Coordinate between partners and WWF Technical Experts for quality implementation.

3.Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor activity implementation quality through field visits and coordination with partners.
  • Track outputs/outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

4.Data Documentation:

  • Strengthen partners for systematic documentation of results.
  • Assist in database preparation aligned with M&E needs.

5.Reporting and Communication:

  • Support partners in preparing reports.
  • Assist in donor reporting and identifying success stories for communication.

6.Coordination and Liaison:

  • Liaise with WWF Technical Experts and maintain relationships with partners.
  • Support incorporating partners' priorities into project management.

7.Administration:

  • Provide logistical support to partners.
  • Assist in organizing meetings and communication.

Required Qualification & Experience for Field Program Associate:

  • Education: Bachelor's in forestry, NRM, Environmental Science, or related field. Experience in community-based conservation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar position.

Required Skills & Knowledge for Field Program Associate:

  • Commitment to community and nature, curiosity, ability to work in remote areas, time and resource management, strong communication skills, proficiency in local languages preferred, ability to multitask and work under pressure.
