Teaching and Learning Mentor Job Description:

As a Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Instructor, you will primarily be responsible for building the capacity of teachers, educators, and trainers. Additionally, you will monitor the project activities of the "Build the Basics Project" executed by Aasaman Nepal and Street Child. Your role involves designing and delivering training programs, providing ongoing support, and ensuring the successful transfer of knowledge and skills to teachers and educators.

Responsibilities of Teaching and Learning Mentor:

As a Teaching and Learning Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers to enhance their teaching skills and implement effective pedagogical practices. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting in the induction and orientation of new teachers, ensuring they understand Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) pedagogies.
  2. Providing pedagogical support to teachers by sharing effective teaching strategies, methodologies, and instructional resources.
  3. Collaborating with teachers to develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the TaRL manual and national curriculum.
  4. Conducting regular classroom observations to assess teaching practices, classroom management, and student engagement.
  5. Providing constructive feedback to teachers and suggesting strategies for improvement.
    Identifying professional development needs and organizing relevant training workshops and seminars.
  6. Supporting teachers in regular assessments, evaluating student performance, and implementing remedial measures.
  7. Promoting collaboration among teachers and facilitating the sharing of best practices.
  8. Creating a supportive environment where teachers can share concerns and receive guidance.
  9. Maintaining records of mentoring activities and professional development plans.
  10. Managing and providing relevant teaching resources to support teachers' growth.
  11. Liaising with school administrators, education officials, and community members to promote teacher development initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience for Teaching and Learning Mentor:

  • Intermediate level in Education or any related field with a minimum of 2 years of working experience, especially in education projects.
  • Direct experience working in schools or educational institutions, particularly with TaRL pedagogies, will be given preference.

Required Skills & Atributes for Teaching and Learning Mentor:

  • Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written), and local language preferred.
  • Commitment to high standards, strong communication skills, and team-building abilities.
  • Willingness to deliver quality service, strong networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working under stress and emergencies.
